Why I built these plugins
XOY plugins started as a personal project.
I wanted tools that felt musical first — plugins that behave more like hardware than software, with fixed choices, simple workflows, and subtle analog character built in. Not endless options. Not visual noise. Just tools that invite you to listen instead of look.
Most of these plugins were born from frustration: either something was missing in my own setup, or existing plugins were too complex, too clean, or too detached from how I like to work.
Every XOY plugin is built by hand, tested in real sessions, and shaped by use — not by specs. The goal isn’t to clone classic gear, but to capture the feel: gentle non-linearities, musical curves, small imperfections, and controls that encourage committing to decisions.
These plugins are free because this is a learning process and a long-term craft. They evolve as I learn more about DSP, analog behavior, and what actually matters when making music.
If they help you work faster, trust your ears more, or enjoy the process a little extra — then they’ve done their job.
